Evening Prayer

I was about to start another inauguration post when I got some more potentially sad news about the health of a friend’s loved one. With so many people close to me in need of medical miracles and hope this week, I offer this prayer that my pastor often closes our services with:

Keep watch, dear Lord,
With those who work, or watch or weep this night,
And give your angels charge over those who sleep.
Tend the sick, Lord Christ;
Give rest to the weary,
Bless the dying,
Soothe the suffering,
Pity the afflicted,
Shield the joyous;
And all for your love’s sake.
Amen.

From the Book of Common Prayer.

    A beautiful gesture I know your loved ones (and those who don’t know you except in prayer) will greatly appreciate. Amen indeed.

    thank you for sharing this with all of us and providing another place for us to share and encourage one another.

    when i woke up this morning, the stones were on my mind and heart. my prayer for them today is from Psalm 5:3:

    My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
